“We dance for laughter,
we dance for tears,
we dance for madness,
we dance for fears,
we dance for hopes,
we dance for screams,
we are the dancers,
we create the dreams”
Deepali Jamwal (DJ)
A believer of “Life is a dance, from one stage to the next”, I have been dancing since I barely knew how to walk. Dance has always been an integral part of my evolution.
Dance is my passion, my hunger, my craving, and my worship. Born and brought up all over India, in varying cultures, different societies and different arts, I have ingrained flavors of all the experiences into my dancing.
After performing with Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA) for over 6 years, I have gained proficiency in Indian Contemporary, Indo Jazz, Hip Hop, Salsa, Jive, Rock and Roll, and Bollywood. Bollywood is in my blood. We have been performing all over Ottawa since 2011 and have successfully managed to capture a million smiles.
Farhan Khan (The Khan Dude)
I started with my amateur dance moves at parties in India and was always stuck with 3 -4 hip hop moves and kept repeating them. I always added some classic local Tamil steps cause it is fast and requires a lot of energy and leaves you out of breath at the end of every song.
When I moved to Canada, I was introduced to Live2Dance and of course met the energy bug Deepali and found out that her bollywood style of dance was fast paced and full of energy just like south Indian songs. So after a few sessions with her my steps improved and I had more than 4-5 moves in my legs , but the best part of joining Live2Dance was the bond I created with the crew and also overcoming my fear of performing in front of huge audiences. Now after 2 years after Deepali has moved to start afresh in Seattle, with the help of others, I am keeping Live2Dance Ottawa alive and running with full force. Soon we shall see who is better, Ottawa or Seattle….
Mirka (The “Go-to” person)
Mirka discovered her passion for dance at the end of high school when she spent two years taking ballroom classes in her home country. After moving to Montpellier, France, she discovered the beauty of belly dancing with Audreena from the Belly’ssima Cie. Seeking opportunities to dance at every place she lived, she joined the dance classes at Ottawa’s YMCA-YWCA the first week she moved to Ottawa in 2011! Here is when she first time met the amazing crew of dancers from Live2Dance and BollywoodForFun, and she could not stop dancing with them ever since! Now a ballroom, salsa, bellydance and bollywood dancer and performer, she spreads her love for dance in all styles!
